Candidate submissions need to make the grade in terms of ergonomics, functionality, usability, quality of design, longevity and many other aspects besides. The independent jury that picks the recipients of the awards is made up of representatives from the worlds of design, business and media. The ICONIC AWARDS: Innovative Interior are organised by the German Design Council, which has acted as a centre of excellence for communication and knowledge transfer in design, branding and innovation since 1953.

One key factor for the unusually straightforward operation of the GRANDIS E is the combination of a single-lever mixer with contactless triggering. Thanks to the infrared sensor, the flow of water can be started at any time without needing to touch the tap manually when hands are dirty. This reduces the risk of contact infections. Alternatively, the tap can be operated and the temperature adjusted normally using the single-lever mixer. This electronic kitchen tap also helps to maintain drinking water hygiene. With an option for stagnation flushes, the tap can ensure the necessary exchange of water. For even more efficient operation of the drinking water installation, the GRANDIS E can be integrated into the SCHELL SWS Water Management System. Using a smartphone, tablet or PC, the SWS system can easily be used to set up stagnation flush intervals as well as flow times, for example. A number of other functions make the tap as cost-effective as possible.
