Self-sealing thread with ASAG easy or thread with factory-applied beading makes installation easier for angle valves and appliance connection fittings

Over 750 million SCHELL angle valves have been installed worldwide – with another two installed every second. Making SCHELL the global market leader. It’s no surprise that installers and planners have relied on SCHELL’s trusted, ‘Made in Germany’ quality for decades. Quick and easy installation is guaranteed by the self-sealing thread with ASAG easy or thread with factory-applied beading.

Often, it is the small things that make the difference and change things for the better. At SCHELL, we know how important this is, which is why we design our products with such care and attention to detail. Like our ever-popular angle valves and appliance connection fittings, for example.

Self-sealing ASAG easy – quick and reliable installation without sealants

The self-sealing ASAG easy connection thread makes the installation of angle valves and appliance connection fittings even more convenient while offering optimum seal quality. No additional sealants are necessary – and indeed must not be used, since these could result in stress corrosion cracking and water damage from a leaky fitting.

The angle valve is installed quickly and easily in just three steps:

  1. Insert: The ASAG ring must be inserted at least 3 mm into the mating thread. However, the angle valve must not be inserted beyond the thread itself.
  2. Align: The angle valve can be rotated back by up to 360° – by one turn – but must not be inserted beyond the thread itself.
  3. Open: The valve is opened fully and then rotated back a quarter-turn.

Simple replacement: If an angle valve needs to be replaced, this is still possible even years afterwards. As no hemp or other sealant is used, this means that no residues are left stuck to the thread. This makes the later replacement of the angle valve simple and hygienic, even after many years of use.

Factory-applied beading avoids the need for roughening during installation with conventional sealants

Fitters wanting to use familiar and conventional sealants like sealing thread, sealing cord or hemp also benefit from quick installation with SCHELL. This is where threads with factory beading are the perfect choice. Thanks to an optimum layer of roughening, these make the installation of angle valves and appliance connection fittings easier, while avoiding any time-consuming manual roughening.

When selecting sealants, please follow the respective manufacturer instructions as well as generally recognised codes of practice.

SCHELL recommends using sealing thread. Use sealants sparingly during installation to ensure an optimum seal. Excessive use of a sealant can cause stress corrosion cracking. If you’re using hemp, this must be brushed in, while also leaving the thread tips and the first thread lead free of hemp. During insertion, make sure that you use a standardised mating thread of sufficient length. Note that the fitting cannot be rotated back.

SCHELL quality, ‘Made in Germany’: angle valves are virtually maintenance-free

Uncompromising quality is worth every penny. Smart features like the self-sealing ASAG easy connection thread or factory-applied thread beading ensure quick and straightforward installation. While offering reliable installation and use, angle valves can also cut water consumption by up to 40%. Even after years of use, SCHELL angle valves and appliance connection fittings still move easily and are essentially maintenance-free.
