Anti-scalding protection in showers: MODUS MD-T exposed shower fitting
Showers present a greater risk of injury from excessively hot water. Apart from the risk of damage to the skin itself, an individual attempting to avoid contact with painfully hot water also risks falling and suffering injury as a result. A shower thermostat with anti-scalding protection should therefore always be a part of designing a safe and accessible shower facility. The SCHELL MODUS MD-T exposed shower fitting is equipped with ThermoProtect technology, which keeps the water temperature constant, even during pressure fluctuations in the system. The flow of water stops automatically if the cold water supply fails. A temperature lock is also provided, which ensures that the temperature of the water can only be set to a maximum of 38 °C in normal use – as recommended by DIN EN 806-2. The temperature can be increased to a maximum of 43 °C by using the one-button unlock function. This provides users with reliable anti-scalding protection, and makes the fitting ideal for use by children, seniors and people with slower reaction times. Apart from scalding injuries due to excessively hot water, very hot fitting housings can also cause burn injuries: to protect against this, SCHELL’s MODUS shower thermostat also features IsoBody technology. As a result of its thermal insulation, the housing hardly heats up at all but remains virtually at ambient temperature, which drastically reduces the risk of burns. Users need not worry about touching the housing while showering, as the surface of the SCHELL MODUS shower thermostat never becomes dangerously hot.
