Challenge

In public sanitary facilities serving large numbers of patrons like the Going Bathing Lake, there is a much higher risk of disease transmission from contact infection. Accordingly, the new wash basin and shower cubicle fittings needed to offer optimum support for user hygiene.

Solution

To safeguard the health of their bathing guests, the project managers picked electronic fittings from SCHELL that can be operated either without contact or with minimal contact and therefore lower the risk of contact infections. Electronic CELIS E wash basin taps were installed on the wash basins. Thanks to their infrared sensor electronics, no water flows until the hands are detected by the sensor. Once hands are moved out of range of the sensor, the taps shut off automatically. This means that the tap bodies do not need to be touched with clean hands after handwashing is complete. Alongside COMFORT Flex shower heads, LINUS D-SC-T concealed showers were also installed in the shower cubicles. The flow of water starts after the mechanism is actuated and stops automatically after a pre-configured time.

Improved comfort for bathing guests thanks to CELIS E electronic wash basin taps

Overall, seven CELIS E electronic wash basin taps were installed at the new sanitary facilities by the Going Bathing Lake. With their infrared sensor electronics and automatic water stop, water consumption is effectively reduced – savings of up to 70 percent are possible in comparison with regular single-lever mixers, thanks to these electronic SCHELL wash basin taps. Optionally, the CELIS E model also offers the option of conducting stagnation flushes to maintain drinking water quality every 24 hours or 24 hours after the last usage. Especially for sanitary facilities subject to seasonal fluctuations in use – such as at bathing lakes or on campsites – this is a useful function that can help lessen the risk of Legionella bacteria reaching critical levels.

LINUS concealed showers with reliable anti-scalding protection

In the shower cubicles, seven LINUS D-SC-T concealed showers were installed. The flow of water is triggered manually and stops automatically after a configurable period of time. Accordingly, the LINUS shower fitting also helps to reduce the consumption of both water and energy. The preferred water temperature can be adjusted easily using the temperature control provided. For temperatures above 38 °C, a temperature lock needs to be released – this makes using the fitting safer. Reliable anti-scalding protection is especially important in public shower facilities – and especially if these will be used by young children, as at the Going Bathing Lake. During showering, there is a risk of scald injuries to the skin, and people can also slip and fall on wet flooring as they try to avoid unpleasantly hot water. The ThermoProtect thermostat in the LINUS concealed shower provides reliable anti-scalding protection for guests young and old, even during pressure fluctuations in the system or if the cold water line fails. Alongside traditional hand showers, some showers were kitted out with the COMFORT Flex shower head. These shower heads are vandal-resistant and therefore very difficult to damage – even deliberately. The soft stream also provides a pleasant shower experience.

The Going Bathing Lake lies on the edge of a forest with a panoramic view of the Kaiser Mountains, offering a truly unforgettable bathing experience thanks to its crystal-clear water. The lake, which has been voted the most beautiful natural bathing lake in Tyrol by an international jury, has the fresh spring water of the Wild Kaiser mountain to thank for its outstanding water quality. Water temperatures on warm summer days can reach 24 °C at the gently sloping bathing beach, with its separate bay for kids and non-swimmers. The open-air water slide is another popular attraction: at 100 m in length it is the longest anywhere in Tyrol. There’s also plenty of fun in store for children at the pirate ship playground. The 50,000 m² sunbathing lawn next to the lake offers plenty of room for sunseekers, while anyone wanting a little more action can take to the beach volleyball courts. After a swim, bathing guests young and old can tuck in at the lakeside buffet.
