A club with a long history – and modern equipment: safely set up for the future with the SCHELL SWS Water Management System

After experiencing a record rise in member numbers, the management board of TSV München-Ost e.V. decided to renovate the sports facilities and build a new multi-sports centre. The SCHELL SWS Water Management System now helps the building operators maintain drinking water quality here.

Challenge

For the complete renovation of the existing sports facilities at TSV München-Ost e.V., the owners had three main criteria when choosing the sanitary equipment. First, the fittings needed to support user hygiene and therefore reduce the risk of contact infections. The fittings also needed to offer economical water usage, so as to minimise day-to-day operating costs. Lastly but not least, drinking water quality needed to be maintained by preventing the unchecked spread of harmful Legionella – especially during periods of minimal use at the sports centre.

Solution

The centre owners picked fittings solutions from SCHELL. Thanks to their intelligent infrared sensor electronics, the contactless operation offers by the CELIS E HD-M electronic wash basin taps reliably prevents contact infections. The electronic wash basin taps also help the building operators to reduce operating costs, as the flow of water stops as soon as the user’s hands move out of range of the sensors. Compared with single-lever mixers, this can cut water usage by as much as 70 percent. The CVD touch electronics in the LINUS D-C-T concealed shower with ThermoProtect thermostat also ensure user comfort, reliable protection against scalding and water savings – as the flow of water stops automatically after a pre-set period of time. To prevent concentrations of Legionella reaching critical levels, the SCHELL SWS Water Management System was installed and networked with all installed SCHELL fittings. This system facilitates the scheduling of automated stagnation flushes, which ensures the regular exchange of water in the piping and therefore minimises the risk of Legionella spreading uncontrolled in the installation.

Efficient water management thanks to SWS

Alongside maintaining drinking water quality, automated stagnation flushes from SWS also achieve substantial savings of time, water and personnel resources in comparison with manual alternatives. The SWS application is used for the flexible control of fittings parameters, such as flush intervals, follow-up times and other settings. All data relating to stagnation flushes is logged continuously in a digital format, so that building operators have access to full records of their compliance with the German Drinking Water Regulation.

CELIS E HD-M electronic wash basin tap: an eye-catcher in any washroom

CELIS E HD-M electronic wash basin taps have been installed in the sanitary facilities at TSV München-Ost e.V. and networked with SWS. This makes it possible to perform automated stagnation flushes controlled from a central instance. Apart from its technical features, the wash basin tap also has an appealing design: with its minimalist, elegant appearance and glossy chrome finish, the CELIS E is an eye-catcher on the sanitary facility wash basins.

Effective anti-scalding protection with the LINUS D-C-T concealed shower

A total of 28 LINUS D-C-T concealed showers were fitted in the shower cubicles at TSV München-Ost e.V. and also networked with SWS. Only the operating panel is visible, which means the shower fittings can easily handle high-intensity use by various sports clubs during the week. Thanks to the integrated ThermoProtect system, club members also enjoy outstanding protection against scalding, even if the cold water line fails or pressure fluctuations occur – especially important in facilities used by children. The installed COMFORT shower head features a soft stream for a pleasant showering experience.
